I’ve always been a “behind the scenes” type of guy. It always seemed to fit with my personality and level of shyness I’ve had all my life. I could do my best work when out of the public eye. This was no different when I had the unique opportunity, and honor, to be the “man behind the camera” for Millennial Catholic Gentlemen this year.
Earlier in 2025, it was decided that Millennial Catholic Gentlemen (MCG) needed a video to give more recognition and awareness to the greater masses about who we are and what we are about. With today’s need for truth and seeking to know more through online social media, it was our great opportunity to spread our message, and cast our net wider than before. It was natural that the MCG Board of Directors asked me to make such a video, because, well, I am a videographer; both as a hobby, and in my professional career.
So I set out, renting as much equipment as I could, and started capturing as much footage as I could, and to be present to the various events that the MCG guys were at. Setup after setup, event site to event site, same gig, different places, I was there, recording every step. My world is often times seen through the lens of a camera. I focus on what I want you, the viewer, to see. It was fitting that at the heart of MCG is the mobile sacristy. It holds in it all the items needed, down to every detail, to use for a Mass where a formal church is not always available. From the mobile sacristy are exuberant items that become the resting place for God Almighty at the celebration and consecration of the Mass. The reverence that is due to God was seen in these young, ambitious men who set the altar for the Lord. Through the lens of the camera I saw how much care and attention goes into each and every setup. Not a stone is left unturned with the amount of reverence they seek to give the Lord through this mission.
The hardest thing about editing a video, is how to draw out emotion in the video to leave your viewers moved. Sometimes you have to just rely on the Holy Spirit to come through on that, which I believe He did when cutting, editing and assembling the final video. There were lots of scripts and pre-production strategies planned, but in the end, it took a turn of its own, creating something more heartfelt than what I thought it would become. You will just have to check it out for yourself at our website: https://www.mobilesacristy.org/home .
