Connections That Led to Marriage

The St. John Paul II Men’s Group has been part of both our stories for a long time — just not at the same time. Corrie actually knew a lot of the guys in the group years before I ever showed up. I eventually got pulled in thanks to my friend Michael, whom I met at a Knights of Columbus meeting. He encouraged me to get involved, and before long, I was helping with things like the mobile sacristy, and hanging out with the group. Little did I know those connections would eventually lead me to Corrie.

Fast forward to December, 2022. Facebook suggested Corrie as a friend, and since we had so many mutual connections from the Men’s Group, I added her. She accepted (even though we had never met), and a few weeks later, she posted a funny Catholic meme. I commented, she replied, and before I knew it, we were messaging back and forth. By February, we were on our first date — Latin Mass, brunch, and the Milwaukee Public Museum — and everything just clicked. A year and a half later, on Mary’s birthday, I proposed at Lapham Peak, and in September 2025, we got married.

Now, both of us are more connected than ever with the JP2 Men’s Group — not just with the men, but also their spouses and families. It feels less like a group and more like a big extended family. We have built amazing friendships, strengthened our faith, and we cannot wait for all the adventures, memories, and growth still ahead with this community that helped bring us together in the first place.
